Contract: permanent, 40 hours per week, term time only
Hourly Rate:£14.77 - £16.13 per hour
Annual Salary: £26,391.04 - £28,821.08 actual salary
Teaching Personnel have a great opportunity to work with an amazing SEN school based in Royston. The school offer Education, care and therapeutic support for children and young people aged 6-19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex needs.
The main purpose of the role:
The purpose of the Higher Level Teaching Assistant is to support the Class Teacher with all elements of the day to day running of the class and to teach whole classes, groups and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher on a regular basis across a range of classes.
Key Duties:
* To lead in the absence of any Class Teachers across the school.
* Assist the Class Teacher’s with carrying out the professional duties of a teacher as outline in the Professional Standards for Teachers.
* Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision.
* To provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through teaching a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
* Support the day to day running of classes across the school and take the lead in the absence of a Class teacher.
* Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
* Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and keep records of incidents, health and behaviour etc. as necessary.
* Ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of the pupils informing the care staff, medical staff and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Qualifications/Experience
* The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification is required
* GCSE pass above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths
* Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD and ASD
* Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
* Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
* Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
