Our Company: InspecTech was incorporated in 1977, the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment industry consisted largely of vendors offering instruments and probes for manual testing only. InspecTech's objective was then clear: to supply engineered solutions to NDT problems by providing innovative and rugged test systems, fully integrated into the production environment. Today, in addition to our in-house electrical and mechanical engineers, the company has software and firmware specialists, and all Information Technology functions are customized to our systems and to our client’s own needs.

Role Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that accounts and financial data are processed accurately. The duties include bank and credit card reconciliation, accounts payable, cheque runs, vendor communication, payroll processing, financial reporting, and various other duties to support the finance team. The accountant will be reporting to the Director of Finance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Use QuickBooks to prepare and record assets, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
2. Monitors Inventory and COGS status monthly.
3. Produce monthly inventory control reports – Inventory valuation and count, BOM, WIP Analysis, and COGS.
4. Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling bank transactions, resolving discrepancies.
5. Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payables and receivables.
6. Assists in the preparation of Monthly Financial Statements.
7. Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
8. Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
9. Summarize financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss, and other statements.
10. Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
11. Enters monthly adjusting journal entries.
12. Accounting for intercompany transactions.
13. GST/HST, WSIB, EHT Reporting.
14. Maintains effective filing system.
15. Additional responsibilities and special projects to be provided on an ongoing basis.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and GAAP.
2. Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
3. Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables.
4. Accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
6. Working under tight timelines.
7. Fast paced, changing environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing.
2. 1 year experience working with inventory management systems and QuickBooks Online.
3. BSc or BComm degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
4. CPA Designation or working towards would be considered an asset.
5. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
6. Previous experience with supporting the implementation of an ERP is an asset.
