We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to work within our Specialised Medicine Therapy team based across the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Weston Park Hospital.
As a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and support staff, to deliver high-quality care utilizing quality improvement and evidence-based healthcare. This will include interventions around early assessment, re-enablement, and discharge planning working closely with the MDT and utilizing clinical reasoning skills for a complex and diverse case-mix of patients.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who has:
* Comprehensive post-registration experience including experience at specialist/senior level within an acute medical/oncology or surgical environment/speciality
* Sound knowledge, skills, and experience in the education, training, and development of pre-registration and post-registration learners
* Excellent communication and team-working skills
* A commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based healthcare, and collective leadership
The role offers the opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to grow their personal and professional development with both breadth and depth across a framework of clinical practice, education, leadership, and quality improvement & research.
There will be opportunities for:
* Supervision and mentorship of Therapy staff
* A variety of teaching/training commitments within the team, division, and Acute Therapy Services
* Organisation of service delivery and selected line management responsibilities
* Participation in a range of clinical governance/assurance/management forums
Therapy Services provides a number of services over 7 days (including Saturday, Sunday, and bank holidays). Successful candidates may be expected to contribute to these rosters as part of their contracted hours.

Qualifications
* BSc in Occupational Therapy
* Current HCPC Registration
* Postgraduate Masters level module in relevant subject to this post or equivalent knowledge and skills accumulated through formal training and experiential learning
Experience
* Extensive experience as a qualified therapist.
* Significant experience at Specialist level in relevant specialty
* Clinical Educator
* Participation in Clinical Audit & Practice Development
* Supervision and line management of Therapy staff including appraisal.
* Professional Presentations
* Experience in emergency respiratory on call including weekend work (PT only).
