About the Role The Council’s Housing Service provides homelessness and housing advice services, administers the Council’s Housing Register and runs a Home Improvement Agency, providing Disabled Facilities Grants and other services to support older and disabled residents in their homes. You will provide the administrative support that underpins the delivery of these services with responsibility for: administering the processes for Housing Register applications, including receiving, verifying and assessing applications, and advising residents on all aspects of their application ordering works, maintaining accurate financial records, checking invoices and arranging payments for all aspects of the Team’s work from paying for emergency accommodation, to taking payments for temporary accommodation and paying contractors About You With previous office experience the you will have proven office administration skills and be a competent and confident IT user. You will be able to work accurately and quickly with confidential information and understand the importance of confidentiality and data protection. You will be able to manage competing priorities and ensure a high standard of accuracy even at times when the service is under pressure. You will be an excellent communicator both within the Team and with partner organisations. You will also need a patient and empathetic approach when dealing with residents who have a housing need and could be facing homelessness and be able to explain processes in a clear and understandable way.
