Situated near the Library, Robert Bakewell Hall offers residents a vibrant ‘home from home’ environment. We are inviting s from doctoral researchers only – ideally with a substantial amount of time remaining on their programme. Duties: Robert Bakewell Sub-Wardens assist the Warden, Dr Katryna Kalawsky, in the day to day running of the hall. This includes pastoral, disciplinary and administrative duties, as well as being involved in social aspects of hall life. You’ll be part of a dynamic team providing out-of-hours emergency cover in a hall of 400 students, ensuring the smooth running of the hall. Personal Attributes: We are seeking candidates who possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities, leadership and role model qualities, and a team-oriented mindset. A commitment to the community spirit of the Hall is a must Accommodation and Catering Arrangements: Free accommodation is available throughout the year. The accommodation available for Sub-Wardens is only suitable for a single person. Robert Bakewell is self-catered, however some meals are provided during term time through the diners+ scheme. Start Date and Training Requirements: The successful candidate should be prepared to move into Robert Bakewell Hall as soon as possible but, no later than the end of April 2025 (NB: Duties start w/c 28 April 2025). Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to attend essential Sub-Warden training (e.g., First Aid Training, Mental Health First Aid Training) when scheduled. They must also take time off from their studies on Tuesday 23 September 2025, to assist the Warden’s Team during Robert Bakewell’s Fresher’s Arrivals Day, and be available to support duty throughout the entire Welcome Week period (~20-29 September 2025).Please find role outline here.
