Job Summary

If the answer is yes, then we want YOU to join the Velindre Cancer services Pharmacy Clinical Service.
You will work as part of a specialised, friendly team whilst also working independently using your own initiative to manage problems, resolve enquiries and urgent requests, referring to the Senior Technician(s) where necessary.
There will be plenty of variety in your role; a typical week will involve you being a key member of the homecare team, spending time in one of our dispensaries, day units, patient clinics or ward, all the time supporting our patient population across South East Wales to get the best from their medicines.
Whether you're starting out in the profession or already qualified, we're looking for someone who is friendly and organised with a passion for providing excellent patient centred care. You will be supported to learn and grow, developing into the other roles in our varied service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Senior Pharmacy Procurement Technician and Senior Pharmacy Technician Homecare in providing safe, efficient and cost-effective procurement of medicines for Velindre Cancer Service.
Under the direction of the senior pharmacy technician undertake the day-to-day management of the area, ensuring an efficient and timely service to all users.
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the processing of prescription expediting, orders and invoices for home delivery of medicines and will liaise with clinical teams, homecare providers and patients to resolve queries and to ensure patients receive their medicines in a timely manner.
The post holder will also support the day-to-day pharmacy procurement services. This will include: supervising, directing the work of and training administrative staff within the Medicines Procurement and Homecare teams; ordering and logistics of medicines; authorisation of invoices; liaising with suppliers and customers; managing and controlling stock levels within the dispensary and stores; dealing with stock shortages and dealing with procurement related problems and enquiries. To undertake checking of prescriptions as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician and to maintain competences and accreditation in this area.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge

* Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
* Level 4 Certificate Of Higher Education In Pharmacy Technician Practice or BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician
* An up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice
* Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
Desirable
* Other healthcare or pharmaceutical related qualifications e.g. NVQ Assessor

* Experience in hospital or community pharmacy
