Job summary Modality Partnership East Surrey Division has a part-time vacancy for a Health Care Assistant, working 20-30 hours per week. The postholder will be a high performing HCA, based at Birchwood Medical Practice. We are seeking dedicated postholders who will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of our patients through the delivery of safe patient care. The hourly rate for this role is £11.50-£13.50 per hour, equating to £22,486.58-£26,397.29 per annum WTE. The post holder will support as part of the wider nursing team to promote the health and wellbeing of our patients by assessing their needs, providing pre-screening activities and health care for chronic diseases, health education advice and support, implementing requirements in line with patient requirements, community, or other settings, maintaining clinically accurate records during clinics. Main duties of the job This is a hands-on patient facing role; we are seeking individuals to join our team who are caring, compassionate and confident, who demonstrate effective communication, excellent customer service skills, good IT skills and the ability to support patients with interventions and/or queries. The postholder will be a key member of the practice team, responsible for Phlebotomy duties, to take and, where appropriate, despatch laboratory specimens including blood, urine, swabs and other diagnostic tests as required by GPs. Making sure they are ready for collection by the designated collection time, or alternatively storing them in the fridge for next day collection. Setting up the ECG machine to take ECGs and making sure that they have been analysed by a GP. Carrying out blood pressure checks as well as fitting and removal of the 24 hour blood pressure monitor. To prepare the examination areas and instruments and to assist the GPs in minor operations, coil fittings and other clinics. Simple dressings, to advise patients on health care, minor ailments, health promotion and illness prevention.
