We are recruiting for an Assistant Bar Manager on a full time, Permanent basis.
The annual salary is £24,278. The post is for 35 hours per week and will involve evening and weekend work. Mainly working Tuesday- Saturday evenings, but during busier periods, flexibility will be needed.
The Role
Do you have Bartending experience? This is a great opportunity to join the friendly Bar team in one of the newest and largest Colleges within the University of Oxford. The Bar caters for students and conference guests and runs regular events.
Working alongside the Bar Manager, you will be responsible for bar service, building excellent customer relations, ensuring that the bar is stocked/ provisioned correctly, storing alcohol correctly and safely, and maintaining the bar area to the highest standards of cleanliness. You will also be responsible for running the Bar in the absence of the Bar Manager, including supervision of casual bar staff.
We are seeking a strong team player who has excellent interpersonal skills. To be successful you must have previous experience of working in a busy bar environment.
Duties
* Lead and direct FOH staff on effective methods, operations, and procedure.
* Manage daily operations of the front-of-the-house functions in the restaurant, including appearance, presentation, customer experience and professional leadership.
* Coordinate with employees to complete scheduling, inventory control/ordering, and bartending.
* Train new and current employees on the company's policies and procedures and the POS system.
* Select to train all new hires on POS system, food menu and best service practices.
* Prepare garnishes or snacks for the customers and keep inventories of the alcohols, mixes, and bartending supplies.
* Do the bar's inventory which include liquor, beer, and wine as well as making the orders every week.
* Assist with various managerial duties such as hiring and training of new employees, employee scheduling, payroll and booking entertainment.
* Establish a steady clientele increasing weekly attendance by implementing wine tastings along with specialty martini infusions and cocktails.
* Manage daily operations of the front-of-the-house functions in the restaurant, including appearance, presentation, customer experience and professional leadership.
* Train as host, server, cashier, food expo, and bartender.
