An Accountancy Practice based in Scarborough is currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join their team as an Accounts Senior. This is a great role for someone who has recently qualified or who has a few exams remaining of their ICAEW/ACA/ACCA, offering a competitive salary of £32,000 to £37,000, depending on your experience and qualification level.

The Accounts Senior will have the opportunity to work on a broad portfolio of clients in a client-facing role, establishing strong relationships with a significant number of business owners across the region.
The primary objective of the Accounts Senior is to play an integral part within the existing accounts team in delivering compliance services to the client base. Responsibilities for the successful Accounts Senior include:
1. Acting as the initial point of contact for a small portfolio of clients throughout the year; managing timetables/expectations, anticipating costs, and raising fee invoices.
2. Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies (including those under FRS102, 1A, and 105).
3. Preparation of Corporation & Personal Tax Returns.
4. VAT Return preparation.
5. Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of engagements, focusing on optimizing profitability, efficiencies, and client experience.
6. Preparing Management Information.
7. Utilizing and promoting the use of cloud technology within our client base including the conversion of existing clients.
8. Identifying, researching, and helping to resolve technical issues which may arise on clients.
9. Preparing client deliverables, building relationships with the client (including their staff), and acting as an ambassador for the business.
10. Initiating and working with other teams and service lines to the benefit of the client including referring opportunities where relevant and minimizing risk (to both the business and the client).
11. Reviewing and providing feedback on work completed by junior members of the team, which will include reviewing year-end accounts, VAT returns, and other work as required.
12. Other ad hoc duties as required.
To be successful in this Accounts Senior role, you will ideally have/be:
1. Circa 2-3 years’ experience in Practice.
2. Fully qualified ACCA/ACA/ICAS.
3. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
4. Demonstrated ability to think analytically and have a high level of attention to detail.
5. Recent accounting experience is essential including knowledge of UK GAAP and Companies Law.
6. Technical ability with a knowledge of recent developments in relation to accounting and tax compliance (FRS 102/FRS 102 1A/FRS 105).
7. Experience of key accounting packages (such as Xero, SAGE, QuickBooks) and Excel is essential.
