Job Description
Core tasks and functions
· Schedule staff and manage absenteeism to ensure that shifts are covered
· Monitor employee work levels and coach staff as required
· Train and mentor security staff
· Liaise between management / client and staff (officers)
· Develop and monitor reports and report writing
· Respond to and manage emergencies until relieved
· Monitor and supervise systems found in the control room
· Ensure that tools, supplies and equipment, PPE are available for staff to execute their duties
· Carry out similar duties of front-line security officers
· (Monitor on a continual basis customer satisfaction and attitudes toward security and safety by ensuring patrols are done on a continual basis as per schedule
· Supervise security staff and ensure company standards are complied with in daily operations of the department, such as dress and deportment, public relations, etc
· Supervise security staff report writing to ensure proper recording of events is taking place. Follow up on major incident reports (i.e. Thefts, fire alarms, Enablons, etc.)
· Review all reports and review for accuracy before forwarding to SSM
· Conduct investigations as directed or required. Ensure officer’s investigations are done properly and provide direction and give advice
· Complete written feedback for staff training files during the 90 day probationary period and as needed on an ongoing basis. Conduct staff performance evaluations for both mid-year and year end. Attend all scheduled staff training and meetings as required. Ensure that their staff also attend staff training and meetings as required
· Ensure access permits are reviewed for accuracy before being approved. Ensure all communiqués from the SSM and client are being forwarded to the staff and that they are read and understood
· Ensure all new company policies and procedures are read and understood and followed. Ensure all monthly reports are submitted to the SSM in a timely manner
· Investigate and solve minor systems problems
· On a regular basis conduct frequent building tours, patrols and inspections of posts throughout facility(s) including key/card rooms, building lobbies, information desks, parkades, tower tours and mechanical areas.)
· To conduct performance management sessions with the team as and when required as well as address disciplinary concerns as and when required
· To oversee and manage conflict situations, de-escalate and report accordingly which within the workplace environment
· To assist with delivering team building activities
· To assist with any HR related matters as and when required
Qualifications
Education and Core Competencies
· Security Supervisor/Manager Certificate will be an advantage
• First Aid, CPR, AED, CPO/CSSM, CPTED Lvl 1 & 2, NVCI (or equivalent), Use of Force, Customer services certificate will be an advantage
• Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent coupled with a knowledge of the criminal code / local provincial Health & Safety industry, preferably within a multitenant environment
• Train the Trainer Certification and some basic adult learning certification will be an advantage
Essential Skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Emotionally intelligent
· Minimum five years security experience.
· Knowledge of electronic security systems including Electronic Access Control, VS, Building Fire Alarm systems, etc.
· Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
· Strong Leadership skills including mentoring and leading by example.
· Computer literate with a working knowledge of Excel, Word, etc., in a windows environment.
· Ability to work under pressure.
· Ability to apply initiative.
Essential certifications
· SIA License
· Drivers license
