What you’ll do:
The Maintenance Engineer Apprentice will assist in maintaining the safety, integrity, and effective operation of plant and equipment. This role combines hands-on work with college studies, providing a solid foundation in both practical skills and theoretical knowledge eventually progressing up to HNC level qualifications. The apprentice will have a keen interest in engineering and support the maintenance team at Eaton Worksop, working efficiently and effectively on their own initiative or as part of a team. As well as receiving training and mentoring from a team of highly skilled and experienced maintenance engineers, the apprentice will also be given small projects to complete where the ability to research and learn independently will be essential.
The ability to work effectively at all levels of the business and the operations team with hands-on support for improvement activities is crucial. A flexible approach to the changing needs of the business and the ability to adapt quickly to change, along with a willingness to alter direction at short notice if required, are essential traits. The apprentice should show moral courage, openness, and honesty in all dealings and set an example to the quality team and wider business as an advocate of quality.
The Apprentice role will undergo part-time college studies on a day release basis to complete their Apprenticeship Framework which will complement their practical experience.
1. Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant, machinery, equipment, and site facilities.
2. Assist with fault finding and repair on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems found on the above.
3. Work with the maintenance team on the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
4. Be an active participant in Lean problem-solving events/activities.
5. Work with and assist external contractors.
6. Be safety conscious and perform all duties to a high safety standard.
Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSE in mathematics Level 4 grade C or above.
