Commercial Manager – Drylining
Senior roles within the construction industry don’t always pop up and when they do it's usually due to a retirement or restructure. Both of these reasons present further questions:
1. Why can’t the company promote from within?
2. Why the need to restructure?
3. What will you inherit?
The role we are recruiting for, Commercial Manager, has evolved due to rapid growth within the business over the last few years. Strategic buy-ins, a new Managing Director, and streamlined processes and procedures have enabled an £8M turnover company to become a £40M powerhouse. They are a specialist subcontractor operating in drylining (65% of turnover) and facades.
A newly created position for the business, the Commercial Manager will report to the Board of Directors and have overall responsibility for the commercial success of projects and the surveying team. You will protect the commercial interests of the business with contractual issues, ensuring compliance and putting in the right notices, etc.
This job is not for the faint-hearted. As the company continues to grow, there will be significant challenges along the way. But with adversity comes great rewards. If you can put in the effort now, during this rapid expansion, you will be rewarded professionally and financially along the way.
You will be working with an inspiring Board who will take you on this journey to the pinnacle of your career.
This role is ideally suited to a Qualified Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager looking to take a step in their career. You will need extensive experience within the drylining industry; facades experience would be a bonus. You must have a sound knowledge of contracts (NEC, JCT, etc.). You need to be ambitious, diligent, and presentable for this opportunity.
