Leeds Museums and Galleries Development Trust is a new charity (reg. number 12111222) whose purpose is to fundraise for museums and galleries in Leeds. We are looking for a reliable and experienced bookkeeper to help manage our finances. If you have expertise in charity accounts, budgeting, and financial reporting, we’d love to hear from you.
We need someone who can assist us initially in setting up our financial systems and then ensuring our financial health in the long term. You will need to provide accurate and transparent record-keeping, financial analysis, and draft reports to trustees, funders and the Charity Commission. Hours will be flexible, some meetings will be in person so working close to Leeds is ideal.
Background
The Trust will receive income both from grants, and from voluntary donations made at digital donation points in 8 local museums and galleries. It will then use those funds to distribute grants itself, primarily to Leeds City Council’s museum service.
Each grant the Trust receives will need to be accounted for separately to allow reporting back to the grant giver. Grants could theoretically range from £500 to £5m.
A significant proportion of income from the donation points will be eligible for gift aid, for which the Trust will need assistance in claiming from government.
The Trust does not employ anyone or own any property therefore there is no need for payroll or to account for the value of any assets. We anticipate using accounting software such as QuickBooks to manage our financial oversight and reporting.
