Job Description
Please note, this role is based out of our Holborn Store Support Centre & Home, colleagues go into the office 1-2 days per week on average.
In this role you will be a key member of the Retail Financial Planning team with primary responsibility for providing the business with high quality Sainsbury's P&L performance analysis, Latest Views, Budgets, forecasts and five year Corporate Plan, as well as ad hoc analysis for the Director of FP&A, Director of Investor Relations and Financial Planning, and CFO.

* Working closely with Finance teams, developing an understanding of trends in performance, and key issues, activities, and timetables
* Consolidating submissions into the corporate Sainsbury's picture, providing constructive challenge to relevant Finance teams
* Assisting in the production of executive summaries and board papers which distil the data and focus on the key issues
* Accountable for the production of timely, accurate, and insightful periodic Sainsbury's management accounts
* Ownership for telling a clear story of performance - not just providing a P&L, but developing visualisations to really bring the numbers to life, and drive action
* Integrate external analysis into our reporting where applicable - provide context to our forecast results in the eyes of investors and analysts
* Produce accurate and timely management reporting information for our senior leaders; including insightful commentary to support the key summary documents
* Manage channel reporting, analysis and insight to help the business understand which channels are driving growth, the cost of the likely volume trends and guide the operational areas with their forecast
* Taking ownership for the key set pieces, including, Corporate Plan and Budget. You will look to continually improve our processes here; bringing insight and ideas to ensure we deliver an efficient, robust and quality process - with a best in class outputs
* Perform sensitivity analysis and financial evaluation of different financial performance scenarios
* Support the Group Finance and Investor relations teams on the corporate interim and preliminary financial reporting process
* Manage the production of a high quality internal and external financial / business review that ensures we meet our reporting requirements and the business's expectations in an efficient and cost effective manner, in addition to producing the supporting Q&A document for the Commercial Finance Director & CFO answering all queries raised to support external reporting
* Coordinate activity involved in producing external LFL reporting for the Sainsbury's business
* Accountable for cross-referencing and producing accurate documentation in all areas
* Lead, develop and motivate members of the team to high performance through great coaching and communication, review of work, suggesting areas for improvement and sharing expertise
More about you
* Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
* Strong retail / FMCG experience
* Proven experience of collating, consolidating and reporting of complex data - (One Stream experience is advantageous)
* Curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers
* Ability to effectively communicate and challenge senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen to manage financial performance
* Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously, build and utilise a broader cross-functional network
* Ability to prioritise workload whilst managing business and finance stakeholder expectations in a fast paced, ever changing environment
* Proven ability and desire to deliver change
