Our client is the world's leading manufacturer of ejection seats. With 80 years of experience, they design, test and manufacture the seats, as well as provide servicing and repairs on their products.
This role will be working a double shift (6am to 2pm, 1.45pm to 10pm) so will include a shift allowance as part of the package. For information on this, the salary and the excellent benefits on offer please get in touch.
Responsibilities:
1. Checking and cleaning surfaces before applying a variety of sprayed finishes i.e. gloss, matt, primer and topcoats to components using a hand spray gun ensuring that coatings are applied to the technical specification.
2. Setting and operating ovens to the required temperature and durations. Ensure batch traceability of paint etc.
3. Masking detail components to drawing/specifications using tapes, plastic plugs and bungs as required.
4. Unmasking components, checking paint surfaces for damage or omissions, removing all tapes, plugs and bungs with scalpels and probes, and touching in any damage as required.
5. Inspecting painted finish by visual and automated techniques. Measure paint thickness, gloss level to ensure conformance.
Characteristics & Skills:
1. Demonstrable experience in paint spraying and surface preparation processes.
2. Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
3. Full understanding of health and safety and COSHH regulations relating to hazardous substances.
4. Experience of working in manufacturing organisations.
