Full job description
Applications are invited for a full-time, short term (6 months) Postdoctoral Research Assistant Position in Plant Enzyme Inhibition work under the supervision of Professor Emily Flashman (Department of Biology). The project involves investigating the potential for inhibition of Plant Cysteine Oxidase enzymes and exploring the consequences for plant stress tolerance.
Applicants must hold (or have submitted their thesis towards) a PhD in Chemical Biology or a related area prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires knowledge of plant oxygen-sensing and the N-degron pathway, plus experience in enzyme inhibition analysis, mass spectrometry, in silico docking techniques and biophysical analysis of enzyme: ligand interactions. Some knowledge of technology transfer routes is advantageous. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry (Rodney Porter Building) and is available from 01 December 2024.
