ScottishPower are recruiting a Senior Network Management Centre (NMC) Engineer to play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of Scottish Power’s strategic telecoms network. As an SME, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of network operations, defining best practice and ensuring compliance with a bias on Transmission technologies. Be an advocate for improving network performance, maximising uptime of services, and optimise network infrastructure to deliver excellent communication services. Participate in the prompt and effective resolution of Major Incidents and Proactive Mitigation through investigation of the operational telecoms network. What you’ll be doing As the Senior NMC Engineer, you’ll be responsible for but not limited too Network management checks: Conduct routine checks, ensuring network health and stability, assuring that all systems are secure and protected from threats and attacks. Manage and assurance of network CMDB, Network monitoring and resolution standards: Define and Maintain the monitoring, incident management and fault resolution standards and policies, Vendor management: Interact with multiple vendors to maintain and ensure continual improvement of operational performance and practices, Performance management: Set and review operational KPIs. Observe network traffic patterns and identify improvements. Supporting event configuration and operational best practices Proactive problem management: Monitor network capacity and manage improvements. Work closely with cross-functional teams within Scottish Power and vendors to implement changes and improvements to the network. Assure documentation: Perform assurance checks to ensure they are comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date and suitable for the management of live network services, Service acceptance checks and approvals: Participate in Service acceptance tasks, ensuring all quality standards are met prior to accepting into Live. Emergency response: Participate in incident resolution calls as a point of escalation maintaining communications with key stakeholders, Change management: Manage, and support changes in the telecom's environment as and when required. Cyber Compliance: Have cyber awareness at the forefront of network activities. What you’ll bring We are looking for candidates with a degree in a related discipline supported by relevant certifications and prior experience as a Senior NMC Engineer, Senior Engineer or similar. You’ll have expert technical knowledge of Telecoms Transmission technologies including but not limited to understanding of various protocols: MPLS TP, SDH, PDH, SHDSL, DWDM, Synchronisation. Fibre and Copper transport mediums. Additional Experience in IP Networking, Firewalls, Servers, Scripting Language, VMware/ vCentre also beneficial. Knowledge within an operations environment and using service management frameworks such as ITIL, with experience of managing network incidents and problems. Expertise in network deployment, monitoring, management and troubleshooting, with knowledge of Network Management Systems, Network monitoring and configuration tools and software, and the ability to optimise configurations. Prior experience working in a CNI business-critical environment, with strong Cyber awareness, excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable partnering across internal stakeholders and with vendors and suppliers.
