Purpose of Role
The role of the Assistant Caretaker is to support the daily operation of a school ensuring that it is a well-maintained, safe and secure site to enhance the environment for visitors, students and staff.
In this role, you will provide a site-based response to key contractual requirements, to ensure a timely service to the school, staff, pupils, external and community users.
You will respond to reactive and planned activities, ensuring contractual compliance and commercial efficiencies.
The post holder should have a broad range of practical skills, and good operational knowledge and experience of FM, Service Delivery Plans and Schools.
All duties are to be carried out in a manner that is compliant with current Health and Safety Regulations & VF codes of practice.
Job Description
The Assistant Caretaker will have the ability to gain a good knowledge and understanding of a subject area of work or study, and to perform varied tasks with some guidance or supervision.
Responsibilities
* Security - general building security, key holder and car park management.
* Reactive Maintenance Activities – including updating systems and liaison with subcontractors.
* Planned Maintenance Activities – carrying out simple system checks including water hygiene and fire.
* Health & Safety – compliance with policies and reporting of any unsafe activities.
* Grounds Maintenance – litter picking, leaf clearance and snow clearance and gritting during adverse weather conditions.
* Cleaning – emergency cleaning activities, window cleaning and emptying bins.
* Porterage – receiving and delivering goods, room set ups for exams and other activities as required by the school.
* Administration – keeping records up to date, accurate completion of timesheets.
These duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties without changing the general character of the post. This role is responsible to the most senior Vinci Facilities manager on site.
