Main duties of the job
Education & Training
Assist the Pharmacy Lead for Education & Training in providing a managerial and professional lead for newly qualified and Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and other support staff within the department across the Trust.
Support the Advanced Clinical Pharmacists for Education & Training.
Assist with the construction and implementation of long-term departmental action plans, including workforce planning and new ways of working.
Assist the Pharmacy Lead for Education & Training for all pharmacy staff in monitoring and providing assurance for complying with mandatory training and appraisal requirements.
Lead aspects of the design of digital medicines systems such as the Trusts EPMA platform. Ensure these are seamlessly integrated into clinical workflows to maximise operational performance, improve patient safety, and support data-driven decision-making.
Lead the coordination of educational placementswithin the Digital Medicines team, fostering a learning environment that equipsstudents and staff with essential digital and professional competencies. Inaddition, provide ongoing support to enhance digital literacy within the PharmacyDepartment.
Engage in digital innovation projects that contribute to the Trusts ongoing digital transformation strategy. Collaborate with colleagues to explore emerging technologies and ensure the workforce is prepared for future advancements in healthcare technology.

Job responsibilities
Development, Configuration, and Optimisation of Digital Systems:
Lead aspects of the design, configuration, and optimisation of digital medicines systems, such as the Trusts EPMA platform. Ensure these are seamlessly integrated into clinical workflows to maximise operational performance, improve patient safety, and support data-driven decision-making.
Testing and Troubleshooting:
Support the Digital Medicines Lead in testing and troubleshooting digital systems. Provide frontline insights to optimise functionality, resolve technical issues, and ensure systems meet the practical needs of end users.
Educational Placements and Staff Development:
Lead the coordination of educational placements within the Digital Medicines team, fostering a learning environment that equips students and staff with essential digital and professional competencies. In addition, provide ongoing support to enhance digital literacy within the Pharmacy Department.
Training and Support:
Support Trust staff in the effective use of digital systems to ensure the continued integration of new technologies into clinical practice.
Act as a digital ambassador, actively promoting the adoption of digital tools and driving a culture of innovation. Support the digital transformation agenda by advocating for the benefits of digital systems and encouraging staff to engage with new technologies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Pharmacy, Digital, Informatics, and multidisciplinary teams to support the implementation and refinement of digital solutions. Facilitate collaboration to ensure these systems are effectively embedded into clinical and operational workflows, contributing to improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Play an active role in Trust-wide digital transformation efforts, ensuring the pharmacy department remains aligned with the Trusts broader digital healthcare strategy. Assist in driving the adoption of digital solutions that contribute to enhanced patient care and operational efficiency.
Participation in Digital Innovation Projects:
Engage in digital innovation projects that contribute to the Trusts ongoing digital transformation strategy. Collaborate with colleagues to explore emerging technologies and ensure the workforce is prepared for future advancements in healthcare technology.
Promotion of a Culture of Innovation:
Promote and support the development of a Culture of Innovation within the pharmacy department. Work alongside colleagues to identify and implement innovative solutions that improve efficiency, enhance patient safety, elevate the quality of care, and improve staff well-being.

Knowledge and Awareness
* Good understanding of education and training requirements for technical and support staff across multiple sectors of hospital pharmacy
* Good understanding of clinical workflows, clinical decision-making processes and how medicines optimisation is implemented to improve patient outcomes.
* Understanding of the role of digital systems in improving patient safety, workflow efficiency, and reducing medication errors.
* Awareness of own limitations and when to refer to senior staff for help
* Knowledge of specific digital systems commonly used in healthcare, such as EPMA systems, electronic health records (EHRs), or pharmacy management software.

* Additional qualifications in health informatics, digital health, or project management (e.g., PRINCE2 or Agile methodologies).
