To the assist medical personnel in the care of Practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.
In keeping with new management and serviceimprovements made across the last year, Woodstock Bower Surgery is looking torecruit a capable, enthusiastic, caring and committed Practice Nurse.
This is a varied role and will include typicalpractice nursing duties Long Term Condition management, wound care, immunisations,cervical screening (cytology) and travel advice.
Experience of practice nursing is preferable butis not essential as training and updates will be facilitated within the role.

Main duties of the job
1. Maintain skills and an interest in Diabetes, Asthma, COPD or Coronary Heart Disease, Hypertension, Stroke/TIA and Contraception.
2. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nurse and GPs
3. Wound care
4. Removal of Sutures
5. New Patient Medicals / Urinalysis
6. ECGs
7. Ear syringing
8. Travel Clinic, to include vaccinations, medications and advice
9. Childhood immunisations according to British schedule, other routine immunisations shingles
10. Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, cervical smears etc and ensure cleanliness of any equipment used.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently to agreed protocols.
Provide general and specific health screenings to the Practice patients, including those with long term conditions (within agreed protocols) with referral to senior Nurse / general practitioners as necessary.

21. Perform an investigatory procedures requested by the GPs
22. Peak flow readings where needed
Other tasks will include:
23. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
24. Maintaining Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
25. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
26. Assisting with the ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
27. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
28. A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
29. Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
30. A requirement to undertake home visits
31. Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
Student/staff education and training:
Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the induction of all members of Practice staff.
Research projects:
Co-operate and participate as required in any research projects within the Practice.
