The Role:
As a 2nd Chef, you will be responsible for:
1. Preparing and cooking meals: You will create a wide variety of well-balanced, nutritious, and visually appealing meals in line with statutory requirements.
2. Supervising kitchen porters: You’ll ensure that kitchen porters are effectively supervised, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen.
3. Menu development: Collaborating with the Head Chef, you will help develop seasonal menus tailored to residents' individual dietary needs and preferences.
4. Maintaining food hygiene and cleanliness: You will ensure that the kitchen meets the highest standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, in compliance with regulations.
5. Kitchen management: You will manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence and assist with stock control, audits, and budgeting.
6. Creating a warm environment: You’ll foster a positive and supportive environment for both your team and the residents, ensuring a high-quality experience for everyone.
What We’re Looking For:
* Has experience working in a commercial kitchen environment (ideally in a care setting, but this is not essential).
* Holds a City & Guilds/NVQ (or equivalent) in catering and a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable).
* Has experience working with fresh, seasonal produce and is confident preparing meals to meet dietary needs.
* Has excellent time management, communication skills, and a flexible approach to tasks.
* Is compassionate and dedicated to delivering high-quality culinary services, ensuring the well-being of the residents.
* Demonstrates a warm, friendly, and personable attitude, contributing to a positive atmosphere in the kitchen.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
