Job Purpose
My client is looking to expand and grow the Civil Engineering department in their Bedford office.
Job Description
The role is for an Engineer with previous Civil Infrastructure experience. Working on various residential and non-residential projects around the UK, from small private developers to national house builders and master planning schemes.
Responsibilities:
1. Liaise and communicate with Clients, third party consultants/council officers
2. Attend meetings where required (accompanied)
3. Liaise and communicate with the wider engineering team
4. Management of micro-teams/projects
5. Delegation of tasks to technicians/apprentices
6. Use CAD (Microstation desirable)
7. Use drainage & 3D design software such as Flow and PDS respectively, to model drainage networks and produce road designs/ground models.
8. Prepare submission packs for planning (Outline/Detail/Full)
9. Complete technical design submissions (S38/S278/S104) through to approval
10. Complete groundworks packages for tender/construction
11. Produce private engineering designs for on plot civils works (desirable)
12. An understanding of the planning process and associated documents (e.g. Flood Risk Assessments)
Person Specification
1. Relevant degree level education (desirable)
2. Proficient knowledge of UK Drainage/Flood Risk
3. Proficient knowledge of Client & Local Authority standards/requirements
4. Proficient with Microdrainage/Flow, Microstation/AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, Microsoft software (Word/Excel etc)
5. Proven experience with the preparation of technical submissions (S38/S278/S104)
6. Experience of preparing engineering drawings supporting planning submissions (desirable)
7. Experience with private plot work design (desirable)
8. Experience with earthwork designs (desirable)
9. Evidence of communication skills, confident with client/third party interaction
