Role: Behaviour Mentor (PMLD) Start Date: ASAP Salary: £95 - £120 per day Location: Mansfield (NG20) GSL Education is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor with proven experience in behaviour management for a PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) school in the Mansfield (NG20) area. Responsibilities: • Patience and Empathy: Understanding the complex needs of PMLD individuals requires a patient and compassionate approach. • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to use alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, PECs (Picture Exchange Communication System), and sensory-based communication. • Understanding of PMLD Needs: A deep knowledge of sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and cognitive challenges faced by individuals with PMLD. • Personal Care Skills: Proficiency in assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and medical needs such as administering medication and using mobility aids. • Creativity: Adapting activities to meet the sensory and educational needs of PMLD learners, including using sensory play, music, and interactive learning techniques. • Behaviour Management: Understanding how to manage challenging behaviours positively and proactively. • Resilience: The ability to handle emotional and physical demands while maintaining a positive outlook. • Flexibility: Adapting to the individual needs of each person, as these may change daily. • First Aid and Medical Knowledge: Awareness of basic first aid and emergency procedures relevant to PMLD individuals, such as managing seizures or using assistive devices. Requirements: • Relevant behaviour mentor qualifications or certifications. • A passion for health and social care. • Excellent communication and leadership skills. • Enthusiasm for working with school students. • Adaptability and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
