The principal purpose of our Outreach Worker is to improve the health and wellbeing of people with a range of substance misuse difficulties. This will be achieved by engaging with individuals experiencing substance use and supporting them to access drug and alcohol treatment, concentrating on engaging with individuals who are not currently accessing treatment, with a particular focus on opiate clients.
Most of the time will be spent working out in the community, at a range of venues across Torbay. These will include outside spaces, Shrublands House, Leonard Stocks Hostel, and venues where those hard to engage often frequent.
Our Outreach Worker will collaborate with staff from the RSI team, mental health teams, town centre wardens, and other partners in the community, exploring innovative methods to engage individuals into treatment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support people through recovery from drug and alcohol use by practicing an empathetic and understanding approach.
* Act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around them and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity.
* Provide a service that is tailormade to meet the needs of the individual, understanding that our patients/customers require an adaptable and responsive approach.
* Work as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication and collaborating with colleagues inside and outside of the department.
* Be curious and creative about new possibilities, identifying what works well and doing more of it.
