As a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant, you will work directly with a child who has specific learning needs, providing tailored support that helps them achieve their personal and academic goals. What will you be doing?
- Providing 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Year 2, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
- Building a strong, trusting relationship with the child, promoting their emotional well-being and boosting their confidence.
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised learning plans and strategies.
- Supporting with behaviour management, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Encouraging independence and helping the child develop social and communication skills both inside and outside the classroom.
- Observing and tracking progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents to ensure the child is meeting their targets.
What we are looking for:
- A caring, patient, and proactive individual with a genuine desire to support children with special educational needs.
- Experience working with children, especially those with learning difficulties or disabilities, is preferred, but not essential.
- A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to the needs of the child as they grow and develop.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- A commitment to creating a positive, supportive, and safe environment for all learners.
- A good sense of humour and a passion for working with young children!
