The Senior Privacy Counsel will lead the implementation and day-to-day management of the Data Privacy program of the MPT and Pharma segments in WE geographies in accordance with Baxter Global Privacy Policy and GDPR policy, as well as the GDPR and other local privacy laws, supporting the EU DPO, HST & CPS Europe/ECEMEA.
This role will also handle Switzerland privacy compliance as the European Headquarters. The role will have to partner as appropriate with senior functional leaders in order to: (i) mobilize resources across the organization to implement the Data Privacy program, so that Baxter employees can achieve their business goals consistent with Baxter’s values and standards and applicable data protection legal requirements, and (ii) enable the development and execution of innovative data-driven business initiatives while ensuring compliance with data privacy and data protection laws in the WE and Swiss geographies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Law Degree from an EU jurisdiction and bar membership.
2. 7+ years of professional experience in an international company or in an international law firm in the area of data protection. The ideal candidate will have experience gained from a mix of law firm private practice and in-house positions in companies engaged in the life-sciences sector.
3. Healthcare experience required. Medical Device and international experience strongly preferred.
4. Experienced knowledge of global data privacy laws, including the GDPR.
5. Experience in handling data incidents and breaches.
6. Experience with counseling business clients on an international level.
7. Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguous legal issues.
8. Consistent track record in working with others in addressing privacy issues in a pragmatic way and within complex organization environment.
9. High degree of accountability, professional motivation, and drive with the resulting ability to thrive in a results-oriented culture while driving excellence to optimize the execution of transactions.
10. Tried history of proactively identifying and researching legal risks and issues and effectively counselling clients regarding same providing actionable risk mitigation strategies.
11. Strong ability to work with and coordinate activities across a large number of individuals across various functional areas and effectively communicate the impact of law and regulation on business operations in a solutions-oriented manner.
12. Fluency in English. Ability to work in other EU languages will be considered as a plus.
