Role Overview:
Mech Electrics are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electrical Estimator to join our clients growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with strong knowledge of electrical systems, cost estimation, and project management. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the company win and deliver high-value electrical projects, ensuring accuracy in estimating and contributing to the overall success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of Estimates: Accurately prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical installations, including materials, labour, and overhead costs, ensuring all elements are accounted for.
Review of Tender Documents: Analyse and review tender documentation and specifications to understand project requirements and deliverables.
Liaise with Clients and Suppliers: Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather information, negotiate pricing, and ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges during the estimating phase and suggest cost-effective solutions.
Site Visits: Conduct site surveys when necessary to assess the scope of work, evaluate site conditions, and obtain further details to inform accurate estimates.
Prepare Submissions: Develop professional and compelling tender submissions, ensuring they are aligned with client requirements and submitted on time.
Project Cost Control: Work closely with project managers to monitor costs during the construction phase, ensuring estimates are adhered to, and identifying areas for cost control.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to improve estimating accuracy and enhance the overall business offering.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant qualifications such as an HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Proven Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience as an Electrical Estimator in the building services or electrical contracting industry.
Estimating Software Proficiency: Experience using estimating software to produce accurate and detailed cost breakdowns.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail, ensuring estimates are accurate and comprehensive.
Problem-Solving Ability: A proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges in estimating and project execution.
Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tenders and projects simultaneously.
Experience in the M&E sector: Experience in estimating electrical projects would be beneficial, along with working alongside the mechanical counterpart.
Project Management Experience: Knowledge of project management processes and an understanding of how estimating impacts the overall project lifecycle.
