The job:
You will be supporting a young man who is non-verbal and has limited communication. You will need to be able to interpret his body language.
The support needed will include:
Oral and PEG feeding, and the cleaning of equipment.
All aspects of personal care.
Light cleaning duties at home to help reduce pressure on the family and support a safe environment.
The right person :
It is not essential that you have experience in care and support as full training will be given. Own transport is desirable to get to work on the outskirts of York (public transport options are available).
Essential Requirements:
Compassionate and caring.
Capable of communicating effectively and have a consistent approach. Physically fit and able to support a young man to get about in his own home. Prepared to provide personal care as required.
Happy to learn.
The training provided will include:
PEG feeding Epilepsy
The Hours :
9 hours per week.
The support is needed in the afternoons during term time. Likely to be worked in 3 hour blocks – days and times to be agreed. During college holidays, support needs to be more flexible – days and times to be agreed. Additional hours may be available.
Pay Rate:
A minimum of £12 per hour. The rate of pay is open to negotiation for the right candidate.
Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
