You will be responsible for developing innovative lighting designs for a variety of projects, including public realm, cultural, commercial, hospitality, retail and architectural installations, working closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and project goals.
A key part of the role will involve producing concept documentation – presentations, reports etc. using Adobe suite of applications.
Your attention to detail will be required for creating detailed lighting plans, specifications, and technical drawings using industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, etc.).
You will be required to coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to source and specify appropriate lighting equipment and materials, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery and quality outcomes.
Also key to the role will be attending meetings and conducting site surveys to assess lighting requirements and challenges, providing technical support during installation and commissioning phases, and staying updated on the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the lighting industry.
Qualifications
It would be a plus if you possess some of the following skills and experience, but if you can’t tick every box, we will help you to develop:
* Ideally hold a master’s degree in lighting design. As a minimum, we would wish to see a degree or equivalent qualification in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design or Engineering (or another related field).
* Proven experience in lighting design within the UK and International markets (Project level).
* Proficiency in lighting design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux) and Adobe Suite.
* Strong understanding of lighting techniques, systems, and sustainability principles.
* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage time across multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ability to communicate design and technical details to clients and collaborators clearly.
* Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for design.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
And it would be desirable but not essential to have some of the following:
* Experience in presentation applications like Twinmotion would be an advantage.
* Previous experience with programming and control systems for lighting.
* Familiarity with industry regulations and standards in the UK.
