We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic multi-disciplined Engineer to work across all Wind Tunnel functions with a specific focus on Software and Hardware systems development.
You will be part of our Wind Tunnel Engineering Group reporting directly to the Wind Tunnel Manager and play a key role in the development of our control and acquisition systems.
You will also support the Engineering activities for Internal projects and 3rd Party customers from all the main Motorsport categories.
You will work daily side by side with the Aerodynamics, Wind Tunnel Operators, and Model Makers Teams in our two Wind Tunnels in Cologne.

Key Responsibilities:
* Development and upgrade of control and acquisition systems to ensure and improve reliability, accuracy, and efficiency of aerodynamic testing activities
* Write acquisition and control code for numerous wind tunnel subsystems and wind tunnel model systems
* Write embedded tools and software for in-house electronic equipment
* Specification of hardware devices to be used in new systems (e.g. Power Supplies, Servo drives, Data Acquisition modules…)
* Usage and administration of Wind Tunnel Software Systems and all equipment in usage in our two Wind Tunnels
* Knowledge and execution of procedures linked to wind tunnel testing activities: model installation, systems configuration, calibration of equipment
* Overview and engineering support on Wind Tunnel and Workshop activities and daily cooperation with Model Makers, Wind Tunnel Operators, Aerodynamic Engineers
The successful candidate will:
* Have a solid understanding of modelling, simulation, and control theory, as well as embedded and application software development, along with troubleshooting and problem resolution
* Be familiar with electronic schematics
* Have a meticulous approach to conducting high-quality experimental work, and ideally, some experience in advanced data analysis of both average and time series data
* Have deep knowledge or work experience in wind tunnel testing or similar testing setups (preferred but not mandatory)
* Possess a proactive attitude and be capable of working independently while managing your time efficiently
* Demonstrate your ability to collaborate effectively, even in high-pressure situations
* Have good written and spoken English language skills
* Hold a degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
* Have experience and skills in LabVIEW and EtherCAT systems
Experience in one or more of the following would be an advantage:
* Software Development: C/C++, .NET, Python, and MATLAB
* Modelling & Simulation: MATLAB/Simulink, embedded systems programming
* LabVIEW (Windows and Linux real-time) and NI CompactRIO systems
* Data Analysis: LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python
* Automation bus communication systems such as EtherCAT and ProfiBUS
* TwinCAT Beckhoff systems integration, design, and maintenance
* SQL programming (Microsoft SQL, LabVIEW, Microsoft Access)
* Siemens Step7, Siemens TIA, and SGC - SAIA Burgess Controls
