We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Midwife to join our multidisciplinary team. We are not expecting you to know all about fetal medicine, but we are looking for genuine interest with commitment to learn and upskill with the opportunity to develop. With training, you will provide specialist care within the Fetal Medicine team ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of services to women and families accessing our services.
You will perfect your counselling skills to inform women, allowing them to make informed choices for both FASP screening and further interventions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated midwife to gain experience in a busy tertiary Fetal Medicine Unit at a leading teaching hospital. As a specialist midwife dealing with complicated fetal issues, you will work alongside the MDT and liaise with referring hospitals within East Anglia and beyond. You will become a source of specialist knowledge and expertise, and gain the ability to communicate often-complex results and information to women, birthing people, and their families.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist support and counselling to women considering antenatal screening and diagnostic testing.
2. Manage and coordinate care for high-risk pregnancies, working closely with the fetal medicine consultants, neonatology screening team, and other relevant departments.
3. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of antenatal and newborn screening policies and guidelines.
4. Act as a key liaison between maternity teams, laboratory services, and referring hospitals, and specialist fetal medicine providers.
5. Ensure accurate documentation and monitoring of the fetal medicine patient journey using IT systems and databases.
6. Promote an open, honest, and transparent culture within the team.

Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Diploma /Degree or equivalent in Midwifery
Experience
* Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of midwifery in all areas of the service with recent working within the community setting
* To have cared for or assisted women who have suffered a fetal loss due to IUD, SB, MTOP linked to fetal abnormalities.
Knowledge
* Aware of current research and its impact on evidence-based care
* Knowledge of NMC Midwives Rules and Standards
* Knowledge of current reports/guidelines relating to Maternity Care and their implication
* Involvement in participating in the production of evidence-based policies
* Awareness of the role of ARC, SANDS, and other support agencies.
Skills
* Ability to carry out the full range of midwifery skills in all clinical areas
* Developed interpersonal skills
* Able to support others and mentor in the learning environment.
* To display interest and commitment to the complex issues linked to fetal medicine.
