Greenfield House is a residential care home for up to ten adults. The service is dynamic and caters for people with varying levels of need. The team support people to live an ordinary life which includes accessing their community, maintaining connections with family and friends, and supporting people with their health and wellbeing.
Our aspirations are to receive an ‘outstanding’ rating with the Care Quality Commission, and we are looking for someone who shares our values, ambitions, and vision.
Main Responsibility
This role provides excellent person-centred support in an innovative, flexible and responsive way. You will support people to maintain their health and wellbeing, being ambitious and empowering in promoting and maximising independence, including positive risk taking.
Some of the tasks you will do are:
1. Acting as a Link Worker for the people we support by contributing to the on-going development, delivery, and review of person-centred support plans.
2. Plan and deliver community outings and activities, including sensory sessions.
3. Suggest improvements and be proactive in the development of solutions and activities undertaken by the service.
You will be expected to work flexibly undertaking nightshifts that may include weekend and bank holiday working. Rotas are subject to change depending on business need.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and will require a pre-employment health assessment as part of the onboarding process.
Although this role is based primarily at Greenfield House in Leek, there may be times when you are expected to work flexibly across Provider Services, including different care settings, delivery approaches, and locations, as required.
The Ideal Candidate
You will:
* Be enthusiastic about working with people with learning disabilities and autism and able to demonstrate a caring, sensitive and patient approach, while supporting people to be as independent as possible.
* Have good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate positively to the people we support, and have a positive outlook on life.
* Be able to demonstrate you can manage potential and actual aggression in a sensitive way which reflects the changing needs of the users and can remain calm in challenging situations.
* Be able to adapt and respond positively to change.
* The role may require you to carry out manual handling tasks to support clients in their day-to-day lives.
What you will have:
* NVQ level 2 qualification, Care Certificate, or willingness to complete.
* Experience of working in a team.
* Understanding of privacy and confidentiality legislation.
* Practical knowledge of health and safety at work.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Literacy and numeracy skills.
* Information and communication technology skills.
