What you will do:
1. Manage a complex caseload of children in care, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
2. Undertake statutory visits, care planning, and pathway planning in line with legislation and best practices.
3. Provide expert advice, mentorship, and supervision to social workers and other team members.
4. Work closely with multi-agency professionals, including health services, education providers, foster carers, and legal representatives.
5. Ensure compliance with Children Act 1989 & 2004, Children and Social Work Act 2017, and other relevant legislation.
6. Contribute to court proceedings, including writing reports, attending hearings, and giving evidence.
7. Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and incorporated into care planning.
8. Support placement stability by working proactively with foster carers, residential staff, and kinship carers.
9. Lead safeguarding investigations and assessments, identifying and mitigating risks effectively.
Requirements:
1. Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England.
2. Experience in children's social care, particularly in Children in Care, Looked After Children (LAC), or Permanency Teams.
3. Strong knowledge of child protection procedures, care planning regulations, and safeguarding practices.
4. Experience in mentoring or supervising social work colleagues.
5. Excellent report writing, risk assessment, and court work skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and make sound professional decisions.
7. Experience working in a local authority children's services team.
8. Knowledge of fostering, adoption, and permanency planning.
9. Ability to develop and implement new initiatives to improve outcomes for children in care.
