CAMHS Outreach is a countywide service offering intensive home treatment provision for children and young people aged under 18 experiencing an acute mental health crisis.
Our service focuses on delivering admission avoidance, supporting safe discharge from a Tier 4 in-patient admission. We have a fantastic success rate of supporting children and young people in their recovery at home to ensure they receive the treatment they need and have received additional funding for service expansion.
We are looking for a dynamic and committed Team Manager to work alongside the Outreach operational lead and other senior staff in CAMHS to establish effective multi-disciplinary working with CAMHS and partner systems. You will be a positive role model to junior members of the team through the practice of evidence-based care. You will be expected to support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision and contribute to the ongoing educational programme for all staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
Main duties of the job
* Provide managerial and clinical leadership to the CAMHS Outreach Team, offering day-to-day management and line management to staff, including non-clinical staff, to promote and develop excellent high-quality safe crisis care.
* Play a key role in the development of this team, supporting children and young people to access crisis support and brief intervention.
* Support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision and contribute to the ongoing educational programme for all staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
* Undertake clinical requirements such as providing specialist urgent psychosocial clinical risk assessments and safety planning for children and young people and their families. Work closely with parents/carers alongside the existing network of professionals such as schools, Children Social Care, and Core CAMHS for a joint understanding and management of risk to ensure the child or young person's safety.
Job responsibilities
* Provide clinical and line management supervision to the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that children and young people receive excellent quality standards of care.
* Deputise for Outreach Operational lead as required.
* Be professionally responsible for the work delegated to other members of the team and supervise their practice, including oversight of caseloads and planning complex activities.
* Lead on appraisals, monthly operational supervision, quarterly CAMHS job planning, performance monitoring, and the clinical and professional development of staff within the team.
* Participate in the recruitment and selection process of staff and ensure completion of the trust and local induction process.
* Provide effective management of absence including sickness within the team in line with Trust policy.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional Health or Social Care qualification: RNLD, RMHN, OT, MHSW.
* Evidence of formal post-graduate learning within a relevant CAMHS field or skill.
* Formal management/leadership qualification or equivalent, or the ability to undertake this.
* Post-registration training in specific interventions applicable to children/young people and their families.
* Formal Teaching and Assessing Certificate/Qualification.
Length and/or Nature of Experience
* Experience of working in the community at management/leadership level, including supervising/managing staff or undertaking basic HR functions.
* Experience of maintaining effective working relationships and clearly communicating service-related information to senior managers and/or key stakeholders.
* Demonstrate clinical expertise in undertaking psychosocial clinical risk assessments and safety planning for children and young people presenting in a mental health crisis.
* Demonstrate clinical expertise and high levels of competency regarding CAMHS care coordination, including managing highly vulnerable children and young people with complex, multi-agency needs.
* Experience of audit, research, and the application of evidence-based practice.
* Experience of working in acute/urgent care services as a senior practitioner.
* Experience of management of change or performance management.
Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge
* Knowledge of general management concepts and practice, including operational experiences within specialist health services and/or children's services.
