Whether it’s working with national media to promote NaVCIS’ role in combatting freight crime or setting up filming opportunities to publicise the seizure of high value stolen cars at ports, the successful applicant will provide a wide range of communications support. More about the role The role holder will be at the heart of promoting the work of NaVCIS using a range of channels. Media is a key area – national interest is high and we want to the successful applicant to be proactive in developing opportunities to celebrate the many successes of NaVCIS’ specialist teams. This is in addition to showcasing this work on the NaVCIS website and overseeing our considerable social media output. The successful candidate to the Communications Officer (NaVCIS) role will be based in the NaVCIS office at Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire. This is a new role and has been broadly based on a generic role profile. References to ACRO and Hampshire are not relevant to the duties or location of this role, which is entirely NaVCIS focused. Progression to the SO2 salary band (£36,996 - £39,036) is subject to the bar criteria and is not guaranteed. More about us The National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS) is a national police unit, hosted by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary but based near Coventry. We work closely with partner agencies across law enforcement and the private sector in order to better understand and mitigate the threats posed to the public and communities by vehicle theft. Motor finance fraud and associated offences impacts upon victims and communities, the national economy and demands placed upon law enforcement agencies. Essential Qualifications Educated to QCF Level 3 (2-3 passes), NCTJ qualification or other qualification in either PR, general media or marketing studies OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level. Essential Experience To have worked for a considerable period as a journalist or in a communications or marketing role. Evidence of a keen interest in current affairs and contemporary policing issues. Experience of using social media in a professional capacity.
