Leonardo’s Customer Support and Service Solution line of business has an opportunity for a Sales Manager in Collective Training to join the team. The Sales Manager will support the Head of Sales, taking responsibilities for effectively delivering a range of tasks to a high-quality standard. This exciting opportunity will provide an opportunity to seek out, develop and close order intake opportunities for new and existing business in UK and international markets. The candidate will also work on strategically important projects working closely with the Customer, Partners and Leonardo Lines of Businesses.
The role will cover all aspects of Sales Management including, Stakeholder Management and Engagement, Lifecycle Management, Team Leadership, all aspects of the Monthly Sales Review cycle, Risk and Financial Management.
The Sales Manager will be responsible for effective campaign delivery and execution, with particular emphasis on achieving contract wins. Cross project, IPT alignment and leadership are key.
What you will do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
• Secure order intake to meet forecast targets for current and future years by managing a portfolio of key campaigns and opportunities.
• Identify and create opportunities for future sales and growth.
• Work closely with Bid Management to lead and coordinate all bid activity.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Customers & End Users as well as Industrial Partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders including Regional and Divisional Marketing, the Capability function and other business areas.
• Utilise internal company procedures to ensure that opportunities are identified, tracked and accurately reported to senior management.
• Effective management and utilisation of the Business Winning budget by bidding for and managing the spending of funds required to prosecute campaigns
• Provide input and general support for communications events (exhibitions, demonstrations, conferences, etc) as required.
What we require from you
• An in depth understanding of military collective training, ideally through operational experience as an end user/operator or by having previous experience of individual, technical and / or collective training.
• Experience in developing, managing and leading key sales or strategic campaigns within the defence or other comparable sectors.
• Will have worked in a global matrix organisation with complex reporting structures in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) / Integrated Campaign Team (ICT) environment.
• Demonstrable experience of contributing to the broader organisational agenda with regard to commercial decisions, operations and customer delivery within a Sales context.
• Strong leadership and motivational skills.
• Able to develop strong, trusting relationships at all levels within the business and externally and be able to influence effectively at a senior level.
• Demonstrate a good level of emotional intelligence and be aware of impact on others working together during high pressure bid activity.
• A capacity to overcome barriers and enact change.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A self-starter, highly motivated and able to set short and long-term planning goals in line with campaign and business needs.
• A task-oriented style, with focus on achieving clear and ambitious goals.
• Financially aware with the ability to interpret and manage forecast, budget and variance to maximize outcomes.
