Learning Mentor- Grand Cayman
Salary Range: CI$73,416- CI$96,336 per annum
The Learning Mentor is a key leadership role in the school responsible for supporting students to improve their learning through a range of strategies including, but not limited to, promoting behaviour for learning consistent with the National Behaviour Management strategy, monitoring the academic achievement of individual students and groups of students to ensure expected progress, identifying underachievement in students and brokering appropriate interventions, providing leadership in the development, management and support of effective discipline within the school.
*Required qualifications and experience include the following:
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognized institution with some prior experience in managing people and school project teams.
* Must meet requirements for licensing as a teacher within the Cayman Islands.
* Formal teacher training/qualification as specified in the Department of Education Services policy on Teacher Qualifications.
* Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a teacher with a demonstrated track record of successful teaching and learning, working with students and colleagues from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
* Successful completion of a recognised behaviour for learning qualification would be an asset
* Experience of working with teachers in a supportive, developmental or training capacity
* Good understanding of how young people learn, particularly young people experiencing barriers to learning
* Prior experience teaching in a student-centred learning environment with an emphasis on differentiation for individual abilities and the use of assessment to inform planning.
The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
