About LPSD The Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has locations across the world where large engine platforms for multiple Caterpillar brands are developed, designed, and manufactured to be used in oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machine applications. EPRC The UK Emissions and Power Systems Regulatory Compliance (EPRC) team work closely with Enterprise regulatory experts, Legal Services and U.S. based teams to provide focused regulatory guidance, certification and compliance services for IPSD-M and Wimborne Marine Propulsion Centre (WMPC). The Opportunity The Emissions Certification Manager is recruiting for the position of Emissions Certification Technical Lead. This engaging role works closely with our Engineering community on technical emissions certification matters, engages governmental agencies on complex emissions certification issues, collaborates with enterprise counterparts / emissions regulatory experts and directly leads a subset of UK Emissions Certification Team. What You Will Do Be accountable for directly supporting all technical aspects of global emissions certification for Caterpillar IPSD medium. Provides technical oversight and leadership of emissions certification, champions for robust product compliance and actively supports the development of effective local and multi-functional certification processes. Duties include: - Overall accountability for on-time delivery of global emissions certification for owned product platforms via team of dedicated certification engineers' - Collaborating with internal teams, comprising emissions regulatory, legal, engineering and product management members, to address technical emissions certification issues - Responding to technical certification related requests from emissions regulatory authorities, and where appropriate, building relationships with the associated agency personnel - Providing technical guidance on emissions certification matters for the assigned platforms and for multiplatform projects. - Supporting dedicated IPSD-M platforms through VoR (Voice of Regulator), PRC (Production Readiness Checklist), Global Engineering Change (GEC) and Materials Deviation processes to ensure that emissions certification requirements are identified early in NPI and that design changes are carefully reviewed and approved as necessary - Continuously improving processes, data quality and accuracy within the emissions certification team to ensure robust product compliance, aligning IPSD-M and IPSD-L/LPSD where possible. - Being a champion for emissions compliance within our business to embed compliance in all that we do - Supporting the Emissions Certification manager in administering the cross-family certification strategy to determine most efficient certification approach for all families (i.e. sharing DF/IRAF/AECD/NCD/PCD etc information across families where appropriate) - Reviewing and approving (or advising changes to) software strategies and calibration approach / AECD's, via Cat Electronics CRM process - Reviewing and approving (or advising changes to) technical certification supporting documents prior to submittal to agencies (e.g. AECD, inducement strategy, Deterioration Factor demonstration, adjustable parameters, etc) - Providing technical guidance in support of certification sign-off requirements for new certification applications or the maintenance of existing certificates through the PRC process. - Supporting the technical growth, product knowledge, understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and personal development of Emissions Certification team members.
