Caterpillar Desford are excited to be launching a new product in 2025. After nearly two decades, the Telehandler will be returning to Leicestershire.
A telehandler is a versatile machine used primarily in construction, agriculture, and other industries for material handling. It features a telescoping boom that can extend forward and upward, allowing it to lift and place loads at various heights and distances.
Key features of telehandlers include:
* Extended reach: The telescoping boom provides significant reach, making it ideal for placing materials in hard-to-access areas.
* Lift capacity: Telehandlers can handle heavy loads, often ranging from a few thousand pounds to over ten thousand pounds.
* Attachment versatility: They can be equipped with various attachments, such as forks, buckets, and lifting hooks, to perform different tasks.
* Maneuverability: Telehandlers often have multiple steering modes, enhancing their ability to navigate tight spaces.

The Opportunity:
As a Production Manager in assembly, you motivate our employees on our production line that build our world-class products. You proactively ensure resources are used effectively to meet targets while maintaining the highest safety standards.
What you will do:
As a Production Manager, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
* Guide, develop and mentor the production team with a focus on open communication ensuring that all team members feel respected, provided with regular feedback and learning opportunities, encourage innovation and create a pipeline of future talent.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing lean manufacturing principles and engaging employees at all levels to identify and solve operational challenges.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to drive decision-making, adjust plans, and improve overall efficiency and product quality.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to maintain a safe working environment.
* Foster a culture of inclusivity and teamwork, recognising the importance of diversity of thought and encouraging team members to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
What You Can Demonstrate:
* People: Lead, motivate, evaluate, and recognise employees. Understanding the skills and experience of the team to highlight gaps and/or training/development needs and builds high performing teams and talent pipelines.
* Talent Management: Actions processes on recruiting, leading, motivating, evaluating, developing and rewarding people. Transforms resistance into support and supports those needing development.
* Manufacturing Operations: Communicates across departments to ensure a smooth workflow. Proactively reviews daily operations to ensure production targets and forecasts are achieved.
* Safety: Proactive in managing safety standards and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Foster psychological safety and team engagement, ensuring open communication and collaboration across diverse groups.
* Process Improvement: Evaluates production methods and maintains focus, with team input, on promoting the continuous improvement of processes and products utilising lean, Six Sigma and drive innovation.

* Successful, progressive career in a high-volume environment.
Job Title: Assembly Production Manager (Nights)
Salary: £39,990 - £47,500 depending on experience
Benefits: 27 days annual leave + bank holidays, up to 10% annual bonus, Flexible Buy in Benefits such as Private Medical, Healthcare, Vision & Dental schemes, Share Scheme (50% Company Matched), Contributory Pension Scheme (Contribution double by Company up to 10%), Free Car Parking, Caterpillar Advantage website.
