Job summary Band 8a (Qualified ACP Post) Band 7 (Trainee) St Richards hospital is opening a newly built innovative Same Day Emergency Care unit (SDEC). The unit is due to be completed and opening in the Spring of 2025. This role is an exciting opportunity to join the existing acute medical ACP team. Main duties of the job You will be responsible for the initial assessment of acutely presenting medical patients, as well as organising their initial investigations and formulating a management plan. The patient mix will be GP referrals, ED referrals as well as ambulance patients. There will be specific ACP teaching on acute medical patients on a monthly basis in addition to the rest of the teaching timetable. The trainee roles will be supported while they undertake the academic study and training required to develop into the role. The qualified ACP band 8a will have a registered MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or have completed a PG Cert & Dip in Advanced Clinical Practice and is undertaking their dissertation/learning improvement programme. They will be an established Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) and able to function as an autonomous practitioner across the SDEC and emergency floor units. The job plan has 10% non-clinical protected time to achieve all four pillars of advanced practice. The trainee ACP band 7 will be willing to undertake, or is currently registered on an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.
