Job Description
CONTEXT
PPTD (Pricing, Product & Technology Development - formally Ignite) research, develop, manufacture, and support a large number of globally deployed machines and instruments for both internal and external customers across the diamond value chain.
PPTD Technical Customer Services provide support for:
* Technical sorting equipment:
o Test/QA of new machines as part of Production process
o Second line support for Technical Support Services (TSS) Global
o First line support for local technical support teams
o Spares and repairs strategy and coordination
* Diamond verification instruments:
o Test/QA of new instruments as part of Production process
o First line support from local technical support teams
o Spares and repairs coordination
JOB SUMMARY (Purpose)
* Repair of return to base machines, instruments or modules at Maidenhead.
* Building, testing, QA & commissioning of new machines and instruments.
* Provide remote support services to all Ignite customers.
* Occasional travel to customer sites for installation or repairs.
KEY WORK OUTPUTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Return to base repair or upgrade:
o Test electro-mechanical modules and instruments.
o Diagnose faults and carry out repairs.
o Keep records of faults and report on trends.
o Upgrade modules or instruments with new hardware or software.
o Co-ordinate return and repair logistics.
o Log, monitor, progress and update customer service requests.
* Prototype and production assembly:
o Build, test and commission finished production machines.
o Produce prototype PCBs and wiring looms.
o Initiate change procedures if appropriate.
* Remote and on-site service and support:
o Provide remote assistance for fault identification.
o Co-ordinate spares requirements.
o Log, monitor, progress and update customer service requests.
o Install new equipment at customer premises.
o Perform preventative maintenance programmes.
Health and Safety
* Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.
Qualifications
* Good general education
* ONC / HNC in electronics, systems or control
Experience
* Experience in a Test and Service environment
* Experience in assembling mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
Skills / Knowledge
* Good communicator with strong customer focus.
* Familiarity with manual test equipment.
* Computer literate with ability to create technical documentation.
* Conversant with computer programming fundamentals.
* Good team player.
