Job overview
Our cardiac catheter labs are based at St Thomas’ hospital. You will be working within 5 cardiac catheter laboratories, 2 of which carry out lower limb vascular intervention.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for radiographic imaging of adult cardiac cases, plus some vascular cases.
Procedures include: angioplasty, TAVIs, TMVRs, CTOs, PFOs, complex device implantations and extractions, electrophysiology studies and occasional cases within the Hybrid theatre.
You will be involved with internationally recognized research work at the cutting edge of cardiology and cardiovascular imaging.
Previous experience in cath labs, vascular intervention or band 6 experience is desirable. However, full training will be provided to the successful candidates with no relevant cardiovascular experience. You must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn. You will need the ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach to working time. Being sympathetic, caring and a good team member is essential.
We will give you the opportunity to participate in live study days representing our Trust. We actively support and encourage Radiographers in their career development and are committed to providing increased opportunities to widen specialist skills. CPD and audit are actively encouraged and teaching is supported. Applicants must be HCPC registered prior to interview.
The successful candidate will be required to work four compressed days (37.5 hours) from 07:45hrs to 18:00hrs.
Participation in on-call is essential.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Setting up and safe usage of complex and/or expensive medical equipment.
* Ensure all patient information is accurately recorded for record integrity, imaging recall and statistical evaluation purposes in EPIC, Medcon and PACS.
* To recognise a variety of complex cardiac and vascular anatomy and pathologies and adapt protocol and radiological views as necessary.
* To alert health care professionals of abnormalities and potential adverse events.
* To participate in patient resuscitation in the emergency setting.
* To ensure that all clinical duties are carried out in such a manner as to ensure safety and compliance with any locally agreed protocols.
