Job Description
General Summary:
The Formulation Development team seeks a dedicated scientist to join a diligent team working to discover, develop, and commercialize therapies for patients with serious diseases. The incumbent will join our innovative preclinical formulation group to play a hands-on role in selecting drug candidates for clinical evaluation.
The ideal candidate has a fundamental understanding of chemistry and physics and has direct experience in a research laboratory (industry experience preferred). The candidate must comfortably take initiative, be curious, and show resilience in solving complex problems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Execute laboratory experiments and interpret analytical data to meet established project timelines
2. Independently develop preclinical formulations of small molecule drug candidates to be dosed by various routes of administration for pharmacology, PK, and toxicology studies
3. Evaluate the physicochemical/solid-state properties of lead candidates to aid in the advancement to the clinic (e.g., solubility and stability in bio-relevant media, thermal analysis, etc)
4. Conduct preliminary form and salt screens of lead candidates
5. Author formulation preparation instructions to transfer processes to CROs
6. Maintain accurate and complete laboratory notebook in real time
7. Comply with all relevant ethical, safety, and training procedures
Knowledge and Skills:
1. A degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering (or closely related major) with coursework in at least the following branches: physical, analytical, organic, and biochemistry
2. Research experience conducting experiments in the laboratory (industry experience preferred)
3. Knowledge of solid-state analytical techniques including XRPD, DSC, TGA, DVS
4. HPLC experience
5. Direct experience with evaluating the physicochemical properties of small molecule compounds
6. Solid understanding of amorphous solid dispersions
7. Strong technical writing and excellent verbal communication skills
Education and Experience:
1. Masters Degree (or equivalent degree) in a related physical sciences and 2+ years of relevant employment experience, or
2. Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent degree) in a related physical science and 5+ years of relevant employment experience

Flex Eligibility Status:
In this On-Site designated role, you will work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
