What’s the Opportunity
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of building services cost managers looking to build on our core skills team by recruiting a mechanically biased estimator, familiar with mechanical and public health systems, take off’s, scheduling and pricing.
The role will be based in our Woodstock, Oxford office and you will work as part of a team on exciting projects across all sectors and values from thousands to hundreds of millions of pounds. You will be afforded the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills aligned with cost management including cost planning and basic mechanical design principles and continue developing your career with opportunities to work alongside other disciplines such as engineering, project management, architects and building cost managers.
What you need to do to be effective in this role
• Preparation of mechanical take off’s, pricing schedules and bills of quantities from drawings and specifications.
• Work to agreed time scales and provide output to an agreed and accepted standard.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to gather sufficient information to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Communicate with the supply chain, obtaining quotations, reviewing and aligning costs for inclusion in the overall estimate.
• Where required, update the data base of costs and historic cost data.
The skills and experience you need to have for this role
• The ideal candidate will be conversant with standard computer software such as Microsoft Word, and Excel as well as peripheral software packages such as Blue Beam.
• Also, they will have worked in the construction industry for a period of five years or more, preferably but not solely in building service estimating.
• Good communication skills and able to work in a team and under own initiative.
