Director of European Freight Forwarding Recruitment
Role Description
The primary objective of this field-based role is to develop the services that Freight Agency offers and to deliver individual sales volume targets by meeting with potential new corporate/commercial customers and introducing our services. A key driver of success will be to secure consistent sales volumes. Reporting to the Sales Director, you will also have the opportunity to input into product, sales process, and marketing development in order to drive forward new business sales. It is expected that, in time, you shall build, manage, and be responsible for your own customer network.
Accountabilities
1. Deliver agreed sales by the recruitment of new customers, utilizing your extensive market knowledge and contacts.
2. Establish and work a network of contacts to seek referred business introductions from existing contacts, centers of influence, and other corporate initiatives.
3. Initiate and activate sales contact with new and potential customers, seeking out new markets, new regions, and routes where necessary.
4. Once acquired, maximize client potential through regular and effective contact strategies, tailored to the customer’s needs.
5. Prioritize client service using existing and potential value.
6. Demonstrate our core values at all times with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as a relationship manager for new business wins, managing the implementation of new schemes and the ongoing servicing, working closely with head office staff.
2. Attend corporate events as required that contribute to the new business objective.
3. Actively manage your diary and work closely with the Sales Director to ensure that field visits, customer calls, etc., are sufficient to meet or exceed the sales targets.
4. Have a thorough knowledge of product benefits and company processes in order to present in a flexible and engaging manner that meets the customer needs.
5. Ensure you have excellent industry and competitor knowledge.
6. Have a personal responsibility and attitude towards health and safety and ensure you do everything to maintain and promote a safe working area.
7. Manage your own personal development in line with agreed objectives as part of the development and appraisal.
8. Take personal responsibility and accountability following established departmental and company procedures and communicate to your line manager ideas for improvements or change.
9. Be willing to be flexible regarding start and finish times to meet particular foreseen or unforeseen work commitments.
Qualifications & Experience
A proven sales professional, you are likely to be already working in this or a closely related industry and have extensive experience of business-to-business sales. You will have a comprehensive understanding of the sales process (including fact finding, objection handling, presenting solutions, and asking for the business). Demonstrated experience and understanding of overseas’ import/export regulations. Competent in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of CargoWise would be a distinct advantage.
