We have roles available on a double day shift and also permanent nights
Based in HUDDERSFIELD, just 10 minutes from the M62, this business is easily commutable from Halifax, Bradford, Leeds, Rochdale, Oldham, Manchester, Wakefield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield.
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter:
·Working within a highly skilled team responsible for building and assembling new industrial gearboxes
·Working directly from technical drawings & instruction whilst ensuring a high quality of workmanship
·Compiling reports on the quality of components on gearboxes essential, recording serial/ cast numbers keeping all documents in order.
The Mechanical Fitter will:
·Hold formal qualifications within Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or similar)
·Have previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter within a heavy engineering environment
·Have experience of working with Gearboxes and Rotating Equipment
Operate and maintain the test rig used for testing high tolerance marine gearboxes, following established procedures and guidelines.
– Set up and prepare the test rig for conducting functional tests on the gearboxes, ensuring all necessary electrical and mechanical components are installed and connected.
– Monitor and control test rig parameters, such as temperature, pressure, speed, and torque, to simulate real-world operating conditions.
– Conduct rigorous and accurate tests, collecting and recording test data, including measurements, observations, and any abnormalities or failures encountered during testing.
– Troubleshoot and diagnose problems that may arise during testing, collaborating with the engineering team to resolve them.
– Maintain and calibrate test equipment and instruments to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
– Assist in the development and improvement of test procedures and protocols as needed.
– Participate in the installation and commissioning of high tolerance marine gearboxes in ships
Working hours of the Mechanical Fitter:
Double days
The core working hours of this position are detailed below (rotating AM/PM shifts):
·AM Shift: 40 Hours per week – 18% shift allowance
o Monday to Friday 06:30 to 14:30
·PM Shift: 34 Hours per week – 18% shift allowance
o Monday to Thursday 14:30 to 22:00
o Friday: 14:30 to 18:30
Night shift
21:00 – 07:00 – Mon to Wed
21:00 – 06:00 Thurs
Over time available
In return, the Mechanical Fitter will receive:
Salary – £ basic
Morning and afternoons = £
Nights- £.4
Regular overtime.
Holiday Entitlement: 33 Days including public holidays
