JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking an IT Manager to head up a small London-based team. The person will be hard-working, intelligent and be directly involved in day-to-day activities adopting very much a 'hands-on' approach, rather than purely managerial oversight. The role is to oversee and manage the MedPro International IT infrastructure, security and applications development to ensure that they meet the needs of the business working closely with MedPro US, our outsourced IT developer together with other stakeholders within the wider Berkshire Hathaway Group. This role will ensure that the IT environment supports the insurance being written by MedPro International providing a robust framework that is scalable to support future business growth. The role requires a person with a broad mix of skills and experience including IT infrastructure, applications and systems development. The person will be required to manage a small team in London responsible for business analysis, testing and support also working very closely with MedPro US. Key responsibilities Applications & Systems Development Work with the COO to develop and monitor progress against the IT strategic roadmap, maintaining a detailed understanding of the IT project portfolio; Make recommendations regarding the systems and applications architecture liaising with the MedPro US IT team; Management of key third party provider of bespoke applications and systems development. Manage a small team in London consisting of business analysis and QA testing to ensure that business requirements for IT projects are fully identified, documented, delivered and tested fully prior to final UAT and implementation within the business; Work in tandem with the MedPro US PMO to plan, scope, monitor and execute IT projects, esacalating any issues and risks as appropriate; Contribute to design, test and deployment phases of new tools; Prioritise the work of the team according to IT deliverables and business requirements; Work with the Operations Manager to ensure business readiness for the implementation of new applications, to identify and challenge areas for process improvement and potential automation. Outsourcing Management of and liaison with all IT in/outsourced providers building strong and effective working relationships. Coordinate audits of third-party IT providers. Collate and review all documentation to satisfy appropriate IT due diligence for new coverholders and third parties; Manage and negotiate third-party supplier renewals, new purchases and cost-effective IT solutions in line with business needs. Develop and provide monthly and quarterly management reports and KPI's for the area; Participate as a member of the Operations Forum; Infrastructure & Security Manage and make recommendations for change regarding the IT Infrastructure to ensure it is robust and meets the needs of the business with any issues resolved quickly and efficiently; Oversee the delivery of approachable, responsive helpdesk services to both on-site and remote users within agreed SLA's; Ensure MedPro International's IT environment has appropriate cybersecurity controls that are regularly tested, working to proactively manage any potential vulnerabilities and security alerts; Schedule and conduct regular DR Tests working alongside with Operations Manager for BCP; Procure IT equipment and ensure it is for purpose including responsibility for AV equipment and communications in MedPro International; Monitor the IT budget and spend; Work with MedPro compliance and other Berkshire Hathaway legal entities to ensure there are adequate safeguards around data protection and other relevant legislation; Conduct User Access Reviews; Maintain a detailed understanding of the MedPro International infrastructure and set up. PERSON SPECIFICATION Knowledge, skills and experience Proven experience in IT management within small teams; Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT ideally with broad experience across all three key responsibility areas; Strong understanding of cybersecurity, including penetration testing and data loss prevention; Confidence and curiosity to identify when things don’t look correct and to explore the causes; Ability to deal competently with pressure and prioritise workloads; Competence in process mapping MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organisation.
