ICT, Cloud Security and Senior Helpdesk Engineer
Synergy Managed Services is a national ICT and Managed Security Services provider and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior ICT Support and Cloud Security Engineer to join our national team. This role involves scoping and delivering security-based projects across on-premise and cloud infrastructure ensuring compliance with the Australian Security Standards (ASD) such as Essential 8, RFFR, and DISP. The successful candidate will effectively engage with clients to understand the impact of ICT on their business while aligning to security requirements. This role will need to work as part of the Synergy Managed ICT team and will involve both collaborative and self-directed work practices. While predominantly a work from home role, proximity to Melbourne is required for occasional onsite client visits.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Scope and Deliver Security Projects: Lead and manage security hardening projects on on-premise and cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with Australian Security Standards (ASD) such as Essential 8, RFFR, and DISP.
2. Client Engagement: Engage with clients to understand the business impact of security projects, aiming to deliver solutions with minimal user disruption and providing support when changes are necessary.
3. Scripting and Automation: Utilize scripting languages, particularly PowerShell, to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
4. Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra, ensuring robust security and performance.
5. Mobile Device Management (MDM): Implement and manage MDM solutions such as Apple Business / School Manager, Intune, and JAMF to secure and control mobile devices.
6. Windows Server Administration: Administer and maintain Windows Server 2022 and later versions, ensuring high availability and security.
7. Endpoint Hardening: Harden endpoints, including Apple macOS and iOS devices, to protect against vulnerabilities and threats.
8. Vulnerability Scanning: Conduct regular vulnerability scans to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
9. Security Information and Event Management (SIEM): Utilize SIEM tools to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents.
10. Reporting: Build comprehensive security and operational reports to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
11. ITIL Framework: Apply ITIL best practices to enhance service management and delivery.
12. Project Management: Utilize project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 to plan, execute, and close projects effectively.
Ideal Skills and Qualifications :
1. Scripting / PowerShell: Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell.
2. Cloud Infrastructure: Extensive experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra. (Experience with AWS and Google Cloud is a plus)
3. MDM Solutions: Expertise in managing MDM solutions like Apple Business / School Manager, Intune, and JAMF.
4. Windows Server: Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2022 and later versions.
5. Hypervisors: Knowledge of hypervisor technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V, Proxmox.
6. Platform Experience: Experience with both Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows platforms.
7. SIEM / SOC: Experience with SIEM tools and Security Operations Centers (SOC).
8. Reporting: Skills in building detailed security and operational reports.
9. Compliance: Familiarity with compliance standards and regulations.
10. Endpoint Hardening: Experience in hardening endpoints, with a focus on Microsoft, Apple macOS, and iOS.
11. Project Management: Experience with project management methodologies such as PRINCE2.
12. Product Experience: Experience with Fortinet, Ruckus, Ubiquiti, Sophos, 3CX, Apple, Threatlocker, Blackpoint highly regarded.
13. Reporting and automation platform: Experience Microsoft Power Platform.
14. Network Experience: Experience with network designs and support including L2, L3, VLANS, WANS, SDWANS, routing DNS, DHCP, and other network-related areas including security.
15. Migration Experience: Experience with server migrations from on-premise to cloud, in particular in the M365 ecosystem.
16. Disaster Recovery: Experience in backup and disaster recovery technologies and deployments.
17. VoIP Experience: Experience using and deploying VoIP systems and SIP configurations such as 3CX, Team Voice, and others.
Additional Requirements :
1. Attend client sites as required - Some travel may be involved and will be covered.
2. Remote help desk support for escalated issues if required.
3. Experience with a range of technologies and platforms.
4. Deployment services for some remote clients.
5. Must be an Australian citizen.
6. Must have a driver's license and own car.
7. Will represent Synergy Managed Services at all times in a professional manner and when onsite or in remote meetings will dress appropriately - Shirts will be provided.
Remuneration will be at market rates based on skills match and experience of the applicant.
