Looking for your next opportunity as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager? We have an exciting opportunity to join us at our Luton site.
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead, develop, and improve the operations, manufacturing processes, technology, and equipment to enable world-class production of Leonardo products and support business growth.
* Lead the manufacturing engineering team, responsible for planning and communication of objectives.
* Manage interfaces between manufacturing engineering and project requirements.
* Support the Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Architects in all aspects of the NPI (New Product Introduction) process, from change planning to DfX (Design for Excellence) strategy, process automation, and product introduction to the line.
* Industrialize products and processes, considering volume, quality, and cost manufacturing requirements.
* Ensure compliance of operations solutions with customer, legislative, contractual, safety, and quality requirements.
* Assess Manufacturing Maturity Reviews with Industrial Architects, ensuring contributions and approvals.
* Design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment, liaising with vendors.
* Make decisions aligned with company vision and values, collaborating with stakeholders and proposing resolutions.
* Manage production schedules, labor, and material costs, estimating future requirements.
* Contribute to technology, process, and product roadmaps, gaining stakeholder buy-in.
* Optimize manufacturing efficiency through improvement programs, lean principles, and advanced techniques.
* Resolve complex product or production issues, working closely with supply chain, production, and quality teams.
* Grow manufacturing engineering knowledge through recruitment, training, and continuous improvement activities.
* Provide input into product teams and stakeholder engagement.
* Maintain product and company reputation by complying with regulations and representing Leonardo externally.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Recognized as an expert in operations, manufacturing, leadership, and business processes.
* Strong people management and leadership skills, including performance and change management.
* Experience in maturity reviews and lifecycle deliverables.
* Knowledge of all phases of the Product Lifecycle and associated processes.
* Experience in NPI/MRL bringing electro-mechanical products to market.
* Skilled in influencing, negotiating, and data-driven decision making.
* Proven leadership in capability and process development within manufacturing engineering.
* Effective communication skills at leadership levels, influencing non-technical audiences.
* Ability to partner with industrial architects, customers, and suppliers.
* Experience in implementing change to working practices.
