The main duties of the post will include:
The duties of the post, some of which will require physical effort such as standing for long
periods, waking distances, pushing and pulling and climbing stairs
The cleaning and preparation of external/outdoor areas across the academic and residential
estate.
To carry out various types of cleaning tasks so that cleaning specification standards are
achieved.
Replenishment of consumables such as soap, hand sanitizer and toilet rolls.
Cleaning of external areas.
Refuse and recycling collection.
Fault reporting.
The operation of mechanical cleaning equipment (following suitable training).
To provide cleaning cover across all University buildings including the residential buildings as
and when required by management. Cleaning will also involve cleaning under Podia, the
squares and the Silberrad plaza, as well as the pathways, footbridges, and outdoor stairways.
Responding to emergency cleaning requests including the clear up of floods, offensive waste
and sharps.
Participation in all training that is deemed to be necessary by Soft FM Services.
To provide support when necessary to all other Soft FM Services groups.
The use of ICT equipment for annual leave applications, self-certification etc.
Follow health and Safety guidelines at all times, particularly:
C.O.S.H.H (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
P.P.E (Personal Protective Equipment)
Working at Heights
Kinetic Manual Handling
Ensuring that all cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely at all times and that only
approved cleaning materials as detailed in the C.O.S.H.H register are used.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Soft FM Services or
their nominee.
